Texas law is different though in regards to your adult friends. In that case, there is almost no likelihood of your being held liable if they drink too much.
When you invite adult guests to your home, you become a “social host,” meaning you have no duty to monitor or limit the amount of alcohol they consume. This is the rule even if a guest is already intoxicated upon arrival at your party and even if you know the guest will be driving. It also doesn’t matter how many guests are at your house. If a guest injures someone while driving home, it is that guest who can be held liable for any resulting injury or property damage, not you. The rationale behind the rule is that your invited guests are expected to regulate their own consumption of alcohol. It is not your responsibility to control their actions and their behavior.
