Flight Delay Compensation
In addition to expenses you may be entitled to compensation of up to €600 per passenger, if you have reached your destination more than three hours after your scheduled arrival time.
Flight delay of more than 2 hours
Delays of two hours or more for a flight of less than 1,500 km entitle you to meals and refreshments and possibly hotel accommodation (if an overnight stay was necessary) with transport to and from the airport to the hotel. You are also entitled to two telephone calls, telexes, faxes or emails.
Compensation for a flight delay of more than 3 hours
The European Court of Justice ruled that in addition to the right to care and assistance (as above) you may also be entitled to compensation. The amount of compensation depends on the distance of the flight concerned.
If you fall within the scope of the Regulation you are entitled to;
€250 for all flights of 1,500 kilometers or less;
€400 for all intra-Community flights of more than 1,500 kilometers, and for
all other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometers;
€600 for all other flights not applicable to the above categories.
Compensation for a flight delay of more than 5 hours
You can choose not to travel. You are entitled to receive reimbursement of your original ticket (should you decide not to travel) within seven days. In addition, you may be entitled to receive compensation as set out above.
